Access control

ByteGate is the door. ByteKey is the key.

The part that replaces the door — explained without any IT background. The technical depth lives on gate.humanbyte.ch.

ByteGate{ byteGate }

The door.

A small industrial computer at every entrance, with its own storage, QR scanner and display. Stays up even when the internet drops.

  • Open doors remotely
  • Automatic opening hours, access by rules
  • Complete log for every location
ByteKey{ byteKey }

The key.

Your own branded app for members. Sign up with an SMS code in under two minutes, then a personal QR code for every door.

  • Sign up by SMS, no password
  • One QR code for every location you allow
  • Add or remove members anytime
ByteGateByteGate

The door knows your opening hours.

Every controller runs on its own and syncs automatically the moment the internet is back.

Open doors remotely

Delivery outside, nobody there? One tap from your phone.

See who comes and goes

Spot peak hours, understand visit patterns.

Control who has access

Add or remove people instantly.

Works without internet

If the connection drops, customers still get in.

POS & payments

Self-checkout, tied to your sales.

The customer scans items at the kiosk and pays by card or TWINT. Every transaction flows back to HumanByte so Sentinel can match it against entries.

Self-checkout kiosk per site, count as needed
Card and TWINT via a Swiss acquirer
Product catalogue and prices as one source of truth
Receipt and VAT compliance
POS data feed for the nightly reconciliation
Cameras & monitoring

Reolink cameras, wired into the nightly review.

Cameras at the entrance, the tills and the sales floor. Notable moments — entry with no transaction, a forced door, motion out of hours — land as short clips in the morning report.

Camera plan: entrance, each till, sales floor, stockroom
Local recording (Reolink NVR or PoE) with a retention window
On its own network, isolated from the POS (VLAN)
Flagged clips in the Sentinel morning report

Surveillance notice at the entrance, short retention, no capture of public space — under FADP and GDPR.

Sentinel

A check every night. A picture every morning.

Overnight, Sentinel checks every entry against sales and flagged camera events, and hands the operator a short list in the morning.

01

Collect

Entries, POS receipts, camera flags from the last 24 h
02

Reconcile

Every visit against its matching transaction
03

Report

A short list in the operator dashboard by morning
Unmatched entries

FAQ

Answered, briefly.

What operators usually ask before they start.

Does the store need internet?

Not permanently, to operate. Each controller keeps deciding locally if the connection drops, and syncs back automatically.

How do customers pay?

At the self-checkout kiosk by card or TWINT. Transactions flow back to HumanByte and are matched against entries overnight.

Who owns the data?

You do. Member and sales data stay yours and are exportable anytime.

What does support cost?

We help online with the systems we run, billed by the hour. On-site work and anything outside those systems is the operator’s, quoted separately.

Can we start with one store?

Yes. We recommend a pilot site, measure for 4–6 weeks, then roll it out to more stores as a template.
