How we handle your personal data when you use our website, book a demo, or run ByteGate and ByteKey at your locations.
1. Introduction
HumanByte builds access-control products — ByteGate (door controllers and a dashboard) and ByteKey (a branded member access app) — and provides installation, support, and related consulting. We are committed to protecting your personal data across all of these.
We comply with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where applicable, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
2. Data We Collect
Information you provide directly includes name, email address, phone number, company details, your locations, billing details, and what you tell us in a demo or consultation.
Automatically collected information can include IP address, device/browser data, aggregated traffic data from Cloudflare Web Analytics (cookieless), and usability session recordings from Microsoft Clarity, which uses cookies and masks text input by default.
When you run ByteGate or ByteKey we process operational data on your behalf — access logs, device status, and the member records you manage. We also receive data from systems you choose to connect, such as your point-of-sale or member database.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To provide, operate, and improve ByteGate, ByteKey, and our services
- To manage demos, communication, billing, and support
- To monitor website and product performance
- To maintain security and prevent fraud
- To comply with legal obligations
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your data. We may share data with service providers, legal authorities, or business partners when required to deliver services or comply with law.
5. Data Retention
We keep data only as long as needed to deliver the service or to meet legal requirements. Operational data we process on your behalf is deleted or returned when your subscription ends, unless retention is legally required.
6. Your Rights
- Access your personal data
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion when legally possible
- Withdraw consent for marketing communication
7. Cookies and Tracking
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless traffic-measurement tool, and Microsoft Clarity, which sets cookies to record anonymized sessions and build heatmaps so we can improve the site. Clarity masks text input by default. You can manage cookie settings in your browser.
8. Security
We use organizational and technical safeguards to protect data from unauthorized access, alteration, or loss.
9. Cross-Border Transfers
If we transfer data outside Switzerland or the EU, we apply appropriate safeguards under applicable Swiss and GDPR requirements.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy periodically. Updates will be published on this page.
